About our product
birch is a timber species found abundantly in the nordic regions, where it has been integral to their way of life for centuries, being used in everything from craft and furniture to traditional medicine.
Birch plywood is characterized by its excellent strength, stiffness and resistance to creep. It has a high planar shear strength and impact resistance, which make it especially suitable for heavy-duty furniture units. Birch plywood has excellent surface hardness and damage– and wear resistance. As a fast growing pioneer plant it is ideally suited to being grown sustainably, and the managed forests support an impressive biodiversity.
By virtue of it's attractive grain, excellent strength-to-weight ratio and easy availability Birch has long been one of the prefered materials of the Scandinavian democratic design movement, who's aim has always been to promote practical and affordable design, without compromising on visual appeal. In its veneer form Birch is used to make up one of the most dimensionally stable of all the ply-woods, with a beautifully smooth, hard surface in pale shades of "milky tea". It is light, strong, and ideally suited to furniture manufacture.
